'STUCK INSIDE' 2020 & 2021

This series is a portrayal of the effects of lockdown on our children during the 2020/21 global pandemic.

To be stuck inside, sitting on a chair and staring at a screen for hours on end each day, had a profound effect on both children and parents.

Apart from the obvious trauma of being separated from their friends, understanding the pandemic, lack of fresh air, freedom of play and routine activities provided at school, it meant many families struggled to satisfy the needs of all family members, effective education and outcomes, physical and emotional space.

I had previously painted my own son pressed up against a glass window and gazing upon it one day, I felt it conveyed, quite emotionally, this sense of collective claustrophobia we were all experiencing. As a result I put the word out for people to send me photos of their own children in similar circumstances expressing how they felt.

The overwhelming response led to this series.
